The lights on the boat masts are glowing in the dark and, like time-lapse photography; they are leaving swirling streaks in your vision. When I asked what others saw in this piece, many responses were of sail boats, one specifically mentioned it was like those in a light parade. Another's response was of fishing boats moored on the Mediterranean coast with a storm coming, creating the motion of the wind on the masts. Another wrote that it's like that time when you're walking along the bay and boats anchored in the harbor are gently rocking toward and away from each other. It's a cool night and the warm colored lights on the masts of the boats glowed in the dark and, like time-lapse photography, the lights were leaving little streaks in your vision. These were all visions of memories shared.
Why do lights at night such as these mesmerize us? I believe it's because they bring a burst of hope and a feeling of joy. Savor moments such as these!
