"Innocents in a Sense" captures a blend of personal vision and abstract interpretation. When I started this piece, I kept hearing the phrase “innocents in a sense” in my mind, and it sparked a reflection on the figures in the work. Though they might not represent “innocence” in a conventional, worldly sense, they embody a purity and integrity that’s authentic to them, untainted by corruption, remarkable in their own way.
The title itself became my inspiration. Each face in the painting wears a headdress, carrying a sense of identity and individuality, and as I developed each figure, the work naturally evolved into an abstract composition. This abstraction allowed me to convey their innocence more freely, capturing both their essence and my interpretation of their inherent purity.
